Pulp Fiction, Chicago, Cold Mountain, The English Patient among titles on offer when service launches in UK in early 2012.
Ahead of its UK launch, Netflix’s latest UK content deal is with Miramax.
Beginning in early 2012, Miramax titles will be available to Netflix subscribers across a range of devices, including internet-connected TVs, tablets, game consoles, computers and mobile phones.
The company has already announced UK deals with Lionsgate UK and MGM, and is believed to have more UK deals in the pipeline.
Both Netflix and Miramax will have new London offices early next year, and consider the UK as a key international platform in which to begin pushing their digital brands. The pair signed a big-money US digital distribution deal in May.
“We are thrilled to grow our partnership with Netflix as they expand their platform into the UK and Ireland,” said Mike Lang, CEO of Miramax. “This agreement further extends our broader international digital distribution strategy, as we continue to offer consumers around the world our extraordinary collection of Miramax films.”
Additional Miramax titles available to members of Netflix in the UK and Ireland will include The Aviator, Bad Santa, Chocolat, Gangs of New York, The Hours, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and several of the Scary Movie and Scream films.
