The distributor has picked up US rights to Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla/Oasis’ biopic about the rapper.

John Singleton will direct Tupac from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeremy Haft and Ed Gonzalez.

Tupac chronicles the life of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop icon and involvement in the East coast/West coast rap war. Casting is anticipated shortly.

Singleton directed Shakur in the 1993 drama Poetic Justice.

Morgan Creek chief Jim Robinson produces with David Robinson, LT Hutton, Randall Emmett, George Furla and Singleton.

Afeni Shakur, Tom Ortenberg and Peter Lawson serve as executive producers.
