Open Road Films CEO Tom Ortenberg said on Monday [6] the company had struck a deal to market and sell XLrator Media titles to pay-TV, free television outlets and select S-VOD carriers.
According to a press release the partners have already completed sales to “numerous outlets” and are seeking select, strategic co-acquisitions that could run on select platforms.
“XLrator has cultivated a powerful niche in the content world that has strong appeal in the pay television and free television arena,” said Ortenberg. “We are pleased to be able to deliver these new titles to our existing partners in the television universe.”
“Open Road personifies the best qualities of a studio releasing brand and a major distribution franchise,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon. “The XLrator-Open Road partnership will provide access to a wide-lane for our top-quality, elevated genre films and programmes to larger sales channels and new audiences.”
Ortenberg and general counsel and evp of operations and business affairs Elliott Kleinberg brokered the deal with Gordon and general counsel Michel Urich.
