Participant Media top brass said on Wednesday [27] its cable service pivot would launch on Aug 1 with more than 40m subscribers and more than 300 hours of original programming in its first year.
“Over the past nine-and-a-half years, through 43 films, Participant has built a reputation for content that is entertaining, commercial and high quality, while at the same time, inspiring and empowering to audiences,” said Participant CEO Jim Berk at a presentation at New York’s Museum Of Arts And Design.
“pivot marks a seminal moment for us with the launch of a channel for people who care about the world around them.”
The network will screen world television premieres of such films as 99% - The Occupy Wall Street Collaborative Film [pictured], Terms And Conditions, We Are Legion and A Place At The Table.
Six greenlit series include HitRECord on TV!, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s take on the variety show, the modern period drama Will and reality series Jersey Strong.
The network also announced a bilingual documentary series with Univision News and Latin World Entertainment.
