The Cannes market has scored its second film about a football great as it emerged on Thursday [9] that Exclusive Media will launch sales on Pelé. CAA and WME represent US rights.
The sporting legend will jet in to the Croisette to meet with buyers. Brian Grazer is among the producers on the Imagine Entertainment and Seine Pictures project, set to commence production in August.
Michael Zimbalist and Jeff Zimbalist will direct from their screenplay that charts the former Brazilian striker’s rise from humble origins to become a three-time World Cup winner and footballing icon.
Pelé himself will serve as executive producer alongside Paul Kemsley and Exclusive Media co-chairman Guy East. Grazer is producing with Ivan Orlic, Kim Roth and Dany Wolf.
Imagine Entertainment and Seine Pictures licensed Pelé’s life rights from Sports Licensing International B.V.
Earlier in the week Epic Pictures announced it had acquired rights to MESSI: The Inside Story Of The Boy Who Became A Legend by sports journalist Luca Caioli and will introduce to buyers in Cannes.
