Phase 4 Films will launch what it claims to be the first stereoscopic 3D VOD release this week [October 1].
Jed Weintrob’s 3D horror film Scar will go out via all major cable broadcasters and will be available to owners of 3D HDTV sets and liquid crystal shutter glasses.
Phase 4 will also offer a traditional 2D version of Scar on VOD on the same day.
The company’s senior vice-president of acquisitions Larry Greenberg negotiated the deal with producer Norman Twain.
“With the popularity of 3-D films and as more consumers increasingly recreate the theater experience by buying 3D televisions, Scaris a groundbreaking independent film positioned to tap into this growing market,” Phase 4 president and CEO Berry Meyerowitz said.
Zack Ford directed the film starring Angela Bettis, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Ben Cotton and Christopher Titus. Twain produced with Courtney Potts and Jamie Gordon.
