Premiere Entertainment has acquired all international rights excluding North America to the Josh Duhamel thriller Scenic Route and has added it to the Cannes sales slate.
Brothers Kevin Goetz and Michael Goetz directed from a screenplay by Kyle Killen and the film premiered at SXSW in March.
Dan Fogler also stars in the story of best friends on a road trip whose relationship is tested when they get stranded in the desert.
“We are very excited to bring Scenic Route to Cannes,” said Premiere CEO Elias Axume. “International buyers have been tracking the film since the positive response at SXSW.”
Premiere’s new director of development and acquisitions Tony Piantedosi acquired the film during SXSW.
Piantedosi joined Premiere in January after serving for three years as director of development at Televix Entertainment.
Brion Hambel and Paul Jensen of Best Medicine Productions, Anonymous Content’s Luke Rivett, and Scott Freeman produced Scenic Route.
Axume negotiated the deal with Sugarman of Weintraub Tobin for the filmmakers.
