Relativity Media has picked up the family film Judy Moody And The NOT Bummer Summer from Precious producers Smokewood Entertainment.
John Schultz directed the summer release, based on Megan McDonald’s childrens’ book. Australian actress Jordana Beatty stars in the title role alongside Heather Graham.
Smokewood’s Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness produced and Bobbi Sue Luther and Andrew Sugerman served as executive producers. CAA brokered the deal with Relativity on behalf of Smokewood.
Judy Moody And The NOT Bummer Summer follows the adventures of Judy, her younger brother and fun-loving aunt, played by Graham. Parris Mosteller also stars.
McDonald co-wrote the script with Kathy Waugh. There are nine adventures in the series of books and McDonald has written a novel set to be published on May 24 that was inspired by the script.
“Judy Moody has an enormous fan base the world over,” Siegel-Magness said. “We are excited to partner with the savvy team at Relativity to bring this beloved character to the big screen.”
