Relativity Media has slotted Spain into its network of international distributors after striking a four-year output deal with Tripictures.
The Spanish distributor will release all titles produced, financed and distributed in the US through the rapidly expanding LA-based Relativity and is currently handling The Fighter (pictured) and upcoming Season Of The Witch.
Spain had been one of the last few major territories where Relativity did not have an output deal. Italy and Japan remain up for grabs in an otherwise extensive pool that includes Momentum in the UK, Village Roadshow in Australia and New Zealand, Alliance in Canada and Nordisk in Scandinavia.
Relativity’s president of corporate development and strategy Andrew Marcus and vice-president of business development Paul Davidge negotiated the deal.
“Spain is a vital market and we are fortunate to be in business with Tripictures, a leading local distributor that keenly understands and engages the region’s audience,” COO Steve Bertram, who oversees Relativity’s international distribution business, said.
“We are very happy to start this partnership with Relativity Media,” Tripictures president Felipe Ortiz said. “We expect to have great success with their films in the coming years.”
