Relativity Media has acquired US rights to Sierra Pictures and Incentive Filmed Entertainment’s Untitled 3D Shark Thriller for wide release in 2011.

Sierra Pictures president and CEO Nick Meyers recently completed a raft of sales at AFM. Deals closed in the UK (Entertainment), Germany (Telepool), France (Metropolitan), Australia and New Zealand (Icon), CIS and the Baltics (Central Partnership) and Canada and Benelux (eOne).

This is the first project produced by Sierra to land a domestic distribution. David R Ellis directed from a screenplay by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes about college friends who spend a weekend at a lakeside house where danger lurks underwater.

Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Katharine McPhee, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Donal Logue, Sinqua Walls and Chris Zylka star. The film is in post-production.

Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss produced through NextFilms banner alongside Lynette Howell of Silverwood Films.

Meyer and WME Global’s Graham Taylor on behalf of the film-makers negotiated the deal with Relativity.
