Distributor buys all UK rights to Chata Pictures’ crime thriller from Moviehouse Entertainment.
Revolver Entertainment has acquired all UK rights to Simon Phillips’ directorial debut Riot.
The crime thriller is set during the 2011 London riots and tells the story of a lone wolf cop who must choose between his friends and his duty. Seasoned UK producer Phillips’ debut feature was produced by Paul Tanter, Jonathan Sothcott and Simon Phillips and stars Nick Nevern, Kellie Shirley and Steven Berkoff.
Dave Bishop, Head of Acquisitions at Revolver Entertainment, said: “We’re hugely excited to be working with Simon Phillips and Chata Pictures on this project. Riot and Revolver are a perfect match, as we continue to look to support British crime dramas both in the field of production and distribution.”
Sothcott added: “We’re delighted to be in business with Revolver – their track record with British crime thrillers speaks for itself and their results are absolutely remarkable. We’re really looking forward to another of their justly celebrated campaigns to kick off the release of this new film in its home territory.”
Moviehouse Entertainment handle international sales and will be actively selling.
Revolver’s upcoming slate includes Plan B’s directorial debut iLL Manors, sci-fi Iron Sky - which, so far, is set for a one-day only release on May 23 - and Nadine Labaki’s Where Do We Go Now?
