UK distributor Signature Entertainment has acquired a string of titles during the Cannes market as it looks to extend its UK theatrical and home entertainment reach.
The all-rights acquisitions include sci-fi thriller Stranded, co-written and directed by Roger Christian and starring Christian Slater, 2012 Fright Fest entry Stitches starring comedian Ross Noble and romantic comedy The Romantics starring Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Dianna Agron, Adam Brody and Elijah Wood.
Signature will release Stitches in collaboration with Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.
Other additions are Canadian hit comedy Starbuck, sci-fi thrillers The Corridor and Extracted, family titles 12 Dogs of Christmas and sequel The 12 Dogs of Christmas II and horror-action State of Emergency.
Signature’s comedy The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best and Cannes additions Starbuck and Stitches are due for theatrical releases.
Marc Goldberg, MD and owner of Signature Entertainment said: “I am extremely excited with our latest acquisitions. We are continuing to acquire a range of different genre titles that come with a lot of pedigree as well as looking forward to some extremely commercial product with titles such as Stranded and Extracted. Starbuck will be our first foray into foreign cinema; it’s a wonderful film that will be our second theatrical release after The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best in July.”
