MPI Media Group has acquired all North American rights to Jaume Balaguero’s award-winning psychological thriller Sleep Tight and will release theatrically in the autumn through its genre arm Dark Sky Films.

The Filmax Entertainment and Castelao Pictures production won six Gaudi Awards in Spain including best director for Balaguero and best actor for Luis Tosar, who plays an apartment building doorman who derives pleasure from the misery of others and resolves to wipe the smile off the face of a cheerful tenant. Marta Etura plays the unsuspecting nemesis.

Alberto Marini wrote the screenplay and Julio Fernandez produced. MPI Media Group evp Greg Newman negotiated the deal with Ivan Diaz of Filmax.

The Dark Sky slate includes Ti West’s The Innkeepers, Jim Mickle’s Stake Land and the upcoming Frankenstein’s Army and Stitches.
