Jonathan Kasdan’s teen romance premiered at Sundance and was produced by Friends With Benefits’ Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer.
Dylan O’Brien and Britt Robertson star in the drama about a high school senior who falls for a junior student with artistic aspirations.
Kasdan wrote the screenplay and Carol Fuchs and Liah Kim served as executive producers.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing The First Time to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and to begin working with them on a fresh, funny, and inventive approach to reaching our audience,” Kasdan said.
“Their enthusiasm for the movie, and for its young stars, makes them the ideal partner.”
Cinetic represented North American rights.
