Danis Tanovic’s latest film takes place in the days leading up to the Balkans War in the early 1990s as a man returns to his South Herzegovina hometown and befriends the son he never knew.

Strand Releasing’s Jon Gerrans negotiated the deal with Brigitte Suarez of The Match Factory, from whom Strand acquired last year’s Palme d’Or winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives.

Cirkus Columbia stars Miki Manojlovic and Mira Furlan. Strand plans a late autumn release.
