Strand Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Adam Sherman’s semi-autobiographical childhood tale Happiness Runs.

Styled as Woodstock meets Lord Of The Flies, the film recounts the story of a neglected child on a commune who flees with his girlfriend, knowing that escape is the only option if he is to survive in the real world.

Strand Releasing will distribute in May. Co-president Jon Gerrans negotiated the deal with Glenn Reynolds of Circus Road and producer Stephen Israel

Mark L Young, Hanna Hall, Jessie Plemons, Andie Macdowell and Rutger Hauer star.

Israel is best known for his role as executive producer on Swimming With Sharks and is currently producing The Secret Lives Of Dorks with Steven Wolfe, starring Gaelan Connell, Jennifer Tilly and Jim Belushi.
