Strand Releasing has acquired all US rights from Le Pacte Sales to Francois Ozon’s Le Refuge, screening in the EFM.
Isabelle Carre plays a young pregnant woman who develops a strong bond with her boyfriend’s brother. Melvil Poupaud also stars.
The film premiered at the recent San Sebastian Film Festival where it won the special jury prize and subsequently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Le Refuge will receive its US premiere at this year’s Rendezvous with French Cinema 2010 at New York’s Film Society Of Lincoln Center and Strand will release in spring.
Strand Releasing co-president Jon Gerrans did the deal with Le Pacte’s head of international sales Elisabeth Perlie.
This is the third film by Ozon that Strand Releasing has handled following Criminal Lovers and Time To Leave.
Strand’s slate includes Andre Techine’s The Girl On The Train, Catherine Breillat’s Bluebeard, Sarah Watt’s My Year Without Sex, and the upcoming release of Emily Abt’s Sundance 2009 hit Toe To Toe.
