Summit Entertainment will release Doug Liman’s spy thriller Fair Game in North America following its competition slot in Cannes.
Naomi Watts and Sean Penn star in the thriller, based on Jez Butterworth and John Butterworth’s adaptation of the memoir by outed CIA agent Plame Wilson.
Summit has also acquired rights Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Japan and CIS. CAA packaged the project and negotiated the North American deal with Summit.
Bill Pohlad produced through his River Road Entertainment, Janet and Jerry Zucker through Zucker Productions, Akiva Goldsman through Weed Road Pictures, Liman through Hypnotic, and Jez Butterworth.
River Road Entertainment, Participant Media and Imagenation Abu Dhabi financed the project.
“Fair Game is a very strong engaging thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats,” Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman said. “The performances are fantastic and Doug Liman has once again delivered a powerful film that harnesses all of the creative means at his disposal. We look forward to bringing the film to theatres.”
