Sundance Selects has acquired North American rights to writer-director Lucy Mulloy’s Tribeca festival award-winner Una Noche.

Starring Dariel Arrechaga, Anailin de la Rua de la Torre and Javier Nuñez Florian and produced by Mulloy, Daniel Mulloy, Maite Artieda, Sandy Perez and Yunior Santiago, the film tells the story of two Cuban teens who dream of escaping to Miami.

The film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and its North American premiere in competition at Tribeca, where it won the new director, cinematography and actor awards in the narrative category.

Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: “Lucy Mulloy is a major director to watch and has created a film that is both vibrant and sexy but also powerful. We look forward to working with her and her remarkable cast on the release of this film.”

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with the UTA Independent Film Group and XYZ Films acting on behalf of the producers. International sales are being handled by Fortissimo Films.
