The distributor will release Rick Bieber’s true-life drama starring Andie MacDowell and Aidan Quinn in March 2011.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will handle DVD and VOD windows following the theatrical run.
The 5th Quarter tells of an American football college player who rallies his underdog team to become the most improved side in the country in the wake of his teenage brother’s death in a car accident.
The film won best picture awards at the Charleston, Long Island and Louisville international film festivals and earned best screenplay at the Boston Film Festival.
“I am very appreciative of the support that Fox has given The 5th Quarter, and am confident that the collaboration of Fox and Rocky Mountain Pictures will be a successful one,” Bieber said. “There are some very important messages expressed by this film, and we’re grateful and thrilled that audiences will have the opportunity to see it.”
Jay Cohen of the Gersh Agency brokered the deal on behalf of Bieber and executive producer Bob J McCreary. The film was produced through Bieber’s Angel City Pictures in association with McCreary Entertainment.
The media / marketing campaign is being spearheaded by Bob Angelotti of Angelcom Media Group.
