Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel’s documentary will screen here on Sept 12 and receive its official US premiere at the New York Film Festival prior to theatrical release in early 2013.
Leviathan shot on a dozen cameras to recreate the sense of what it is like to be a commercial fisherman in the North Atlantic. The Cinema Guild’s Ryan Krivoshey negotiated the deal with Castaing-Taylor.
“Leviathan is unlike any film we have ever seen,” Krivoshey said. “It is a bracing, daring and highly original work that demands to be seen on the big screen.”
The Cinema Guild recently acquired Raul Ruiz’s final film Night Across The Street, which will get its North American premiere in Toronto on Saturday (8).
