The Match Factory has picked up Felix van Groeningen’s drama The Broken Circle Breakdown.
Veerie Baetens and Johan Heldenbergh star in the story of a happy young couple whose world is turned upside down when their daughter becomes sick.
Van Groeningen’s 2009 comedy-drama The Misfortunates premiered in Directors’ Fortnight in 2009 and picked up Istanbul’s Golden Tulip for Best Film.
”The Broken Circle Breakdown impresses by its powerful acting, intense theme and high crossover potential,” said head of acquisitions Zsuzsi Bankuti.
Menuet producer Dirk Impens said: “We are very proud because this is the first Flemish film to be handled by The Match Factory, which proves again the recognition of Flemish films internationally.”
