Distracted Media has signed a DVD distribution deal with Transmission Films and Paramount Home Entertainment Australia for Carlo Ledesma’s horror film TheTunnel.
Filmed in and amongst Sydney’s tunnels, The Tunnel follows a news film crew as they journey underground on the hunt for a story. As they go down deeper, it becomes apparent that something is hunting them. The film is comprised of an all-local cast including Andy Rodoreda, Bel Delia, Steve Davis and Luke Arnold.
Transmission Films and Paramount Home Entertainment Australia will release The Tunnel on May 19 as a two-disc edition with over two hours of exclusive DVD features including an alternate ending, a behind-the-scenes documentary and other featurettes.
To raise the movie’s cash budget of $135,000, The Tunnel’s producers launched a website, www.thetunnelmovie.net, with frames of the movie for sale to the internet audience for $1 per frame on a 90-minute film comprised of 135,000 individual frames and releasing the film online for free.
“We are thrilled to have these two forward-thinking distributors supporting The Tunnel in Australia,” said writer and producer Enzo Tedeschi. “From the outset our intention was to make The Tunnel available to as many people as possible — their willingness to find a way to work alongside our online release will be a massive boost to that.”
The DVD launch is slated for May 19.
