SUNDANCE: In another preemptive move that has kept the news flowing in the first two days in Park City, the distributor announced it has acquired North American rights to Kevin Pollak’s directorial debut.

Misery Loves Comedy premieres on Friday (January 23) and features numerous talking heads discussing the art of making people laugh.

Interviewees include Tom Hanks, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Jon Favreau, Lisa Kudrow, Larry David, Steve Coogan, Jim Gaffigan and Whoopi Goldberg.

Tribeca has earmarked a spring release for the Heretic Films and NewAley Pictures production.

Pollak and John Varhous co-wrote the script and Becky Newhall, Burton Ritchie and Barry Katz produced. Ben Galecki, Ashton Newhall, Liz Davidson and Jess Ravich are the executive producers. 

Tribeca Film brokered the deal with UTA Independent Film Group.
