TrustNordisk has boarded international sales for Pioneer, a new Norwegian thriller produced by Headhunters veteran Christian Fredrik Martin from Friland.
The €6m film is set in the early ’80s at the beginning of the Norwegian Oil Rush. A profesional diver is obsessed with taking on a dangerous job to reach the bottom of the sea. But a tragic accident changes evrything.
The filmmakers said the film is a conspiracy thriller in the vein of The Conversation or Chinatown.
Erik Skjoldbaerg (Insomnia, Prozac Nation) will direct.
Aksel Hennie (Headhunters, Max Manus) [pictured] will play the lead. The cast also features Wes Bentley, Stephen Lang, Jonathan LaPaglia and Stephanie Sigman (Miss Bala).
Co-producers are Pandora Filmproduktion, Garagefilm International AB, Film i Väst, Les Films d’Antoine, MRP Matila Röhr Productions and Nordisk Film. The film is supported by Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fund, Filmstiftung NRW, Filmförderung HSH, Norwegian Film Institute, Swedish Film Institute, Finnish Film Foundation, CNC - Aide aux Films en Langue Etrangère and MEDIA.
Nordisk Film will distribute in Scandinavia.
