Black Bear Pictures’ Matthew McConaughey adventure has found its US home after TWC-Dimension beat out rival bidders with what is believed to be a $15m MG and $20m-plus P&A commitment.
CAA brokered the deal on behalf of Black Bear alongside Dan Steinman. Production is scheduled to kick off in June and locations include Thailand, New York and New Mexico.
International sales agent Sierra/Affinity introduced the project at the EFM in Berlin where it closed a raft of deals on the story of a prospector and a hapless geologist who go in search of gold in the Indonesian jungle.
Stephen Gaghan directs Gold from a script by Patrick Massett and John Zinman. Edgar Ramirez also stars.
Black Bear is fully financing the project and principal Teddy Schwarzman produces alongside Michael Nozik via his Hwy61, Massett, Zinman and McConaughey.
StudioCanal acquired the UK, Germany, France, Australia and New Zealand in Berlin, while Sun will release across Latin America. Eagle Pictures with Leone Film Group distributes in Italy and Scanbox handles in Scandinavia.
