TWC picks up US and Latin American rights to Dustin Hoffman’s Quartet from HanWay.
The Weinstein Company has picked up US and Latin American rights to Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut Quartet from HanWay Films.
Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Michael Gambon and Pauline Collins star in the comedy-drama about retired opera singers written by Sir Ronald Harwood and produced by Finola Dwyer and Stewart Mackinnon.
TWC co-chair Harvey Weinstein said: “We decided to give an up-and-coming first-timer a chance. We’re excited to be working with Dustin on his directorial debut.”
The deal was negotiated by HanWay Films managing director Thorsten Schumacher and COO Jan Spielhoff, alongside WME Global’s Graham Taylor who co-repped the US rights. TWC svp of acquisitions Negeen Yazdi and business affairs executive Talia Houminer negotiated on behalf of TWC.
HanWay has completed more than 30 worldwide deals on the film including Momentum for the UK, Transmission for Australia, DCM for Germany and Vertice for Spain.
