StudioCanal confirmed [Feb 27] it had struck a deal with Universal to release the Working Title production Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in the US.
Gary Oldman, Oscar winner Colin Firth, Tom Hardy and Mark Strong star in the spy thriller, adapted from the John Le Carre classic. Tomas Alfredson of Let the Right One In fame is directing.
Peter Straughan and Bridget O’ Conner adapted the story and Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Robyn Slovo are producing.
StudioCanal fully financed the film and will distribute directly in the UK, France and Germany and enticed buyers at EFM. The film is currently in post-production and Universal is considering a year-end release.
“I am very happy with this agreement,” StudioCanal CEO Oliver Courson said. “Universal is the natural home for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and it’s always a pleasure for us to work with our long-time partner.”
