Sales outfit Vision Films has closed the first deal on its documentary King George VI: The Man Behind The King’s Speech, to Rialto for Australia.
The 80-minute documentary is about King George VI’s reign, not just during the time depicted in Oscar winner The King’s Speech, but also during the war.
The documentary includes original footage of King George VI, including his Coronotion speech and reminiscences from contemporaries. The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper and star Colin Firth are also included, as are interviews with the grandson of speech therapist Lionel Logue and royals expert Tim Ewart.
The film is finishing production now for delivery later this month.
Vision is also handling sales on two other new royal-themed projects, Prince William & Kate Middleton: A Royal Love Story (2x 70mins) as well as William & Kate: A Fairytale Romance (1x 90mins, 1x 45mins). The latter is produced by 4Digital Media Ltd.
Vision’s slate also includes Justin Bieber: This Is My World.
Vision, headed by Lise Romanoff, is based in California. The company will also be attending MIPTV.
