The studios announced on Friday [8] they will jointly handle production and worldwide distribution on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi Interstellar.
Warner Bros will release the film internationally and Paramount will distribute in North America in theatres and IMAX on Nov 7.
Nolan and Emma Thomas of Syncopy Films and Lynda Obst of Lynda Obst Productions are producin Interstellar while Kip Thorne will serve as executive producer.
Legendary Pictures, Nolan’s collaborator on the Batman trilogy and Inception, is not involved in the project, described as a deep space voyage to the limits of human consciousness.
“As a film-maker and storyteller, Chris has continuously entertained the world with his extraordinary and unparalleled talents,” said Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey.
“I am pleased beyond measure to welcome him to the Paramount Pictures family. Partnering with Chris, Emma, Lynda and Warner Bros to release this original idea next November is the perfect way to start the Thanksgiving and holiday movie season for audiences around the world.”
