Warner Bros Pictures International has partnered with two Nordic licensees to distribute the studio’s upcoming product commencing April 1, 2011.
The deal follows the termination of the studio’s pan-Scandinavian deal with Sandrew Metronome following that company’s decision last month to implement a corporate restructure.
Under the new arrangement the studio has forged deals in Sweden with Fox International – with whom it already operates in other parts of the world – and in Norway, Denmark and Finland with Svensk.
“With so many viable contenders, this was not an easy decision for Warner Bros International, but we feel we have chosen the best home for our product in each specific market,” said Monique Esclavissat, the company’s executive vice-president for Europe and Latin America distribution. “We are looking forward to a fruitful ongoing partnership with Fox and to build a new mutually rewarding venture with SF.”
“We are delighted with the extension to Sweden of our mutually successful and enduring distribution relationship with Warner Bros,” said Paul Higginson, Fox’s executive vice-president EMEA.
“We are extremely happy to be forming this strategic alliance with Warner Bros in Denmark, Finland and Norway,” said Rasmus Ramstad, president of Svensk Filmindustri. “Warner Bros has been one of the most consistently successful studios over the last few years and we are looking forward to further strengthening their position in the three mentioned territories.”
