$15m action thriller sells to the US, Germany, Benelux and Ausralia/NZ

Hong Kong-based We Distribution has sold Andrew Lau’s The Guillotines to Well Go USA for North America.

The $15m action thriller has also gone to Splendid Films for Germany and Benelux and Icon Film Distribution for Australia/New Zealand.

Currently in production, the film is produced by Peter Ho-sun Chan’s We Pictures and Hong Kong’s Media Asia Film Production with Stellar Mega Films, Dingsheng Cultural Industry Investment Co and Polyface Films.

The story revolves around a covert squad called The Guillotines who carry out secret missions for the Emperor. The cast is headed by hot pan-Chinese actors Huang Xiaoming, Ethan Juan, Shawn Yue and Boran Jing. Jimmy Wang Yu (Wu Xia) and Chinese pop singer Li Yuchun also recently joined the cast.

We Distribution is handling international sales outside Asia, while Media Asia handles Asian territories excluding China.
