Fast-growing London-based sales outfit WestEnd Films has snapped up exclusive international rights to an eye-catching batch of 11 films from Woody Allen.
The titles, which will be introduced to buyers at MIPTV next month, include some of the director’s best known works. The acquisitions come as WestEnd Films strives to build a strong library of titles from top directors showcasing A-list talent.
The films include such well-known Allen fare as Everyone Says I Love You (Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman), Sweet And Lowdown (Sean Penn, Samantha Morton), Deconstructing Harry (Billy Crystal, Demi Moore, Robin Williams), Small Time Crooks (Hugh Grant, Tracy Ullman) and Celebrity (Kenneth Branagh, Leonardo DiCaprio, Winona Ryder) among others.
Also included are Mighty Aphrodite (Michael Rapaport, Mira Sorvino) and Bullets Over Broadway (John Cusack, Diane Wiest).
“We founded WestEnd in 2008, without a library,” managing director Eve Schoukroun said. “We decided it would make sense to apply our theatrical model to building a selective catalogue of timeless titles which truly have value in the ancillary markets.”
“Having worked on Woody Allen pictures previously, we are delighted to be representing such iconic titles,” co-founder and managing director Maya Amsellem added. “This is a great addition to our current slate of chosen and quality projects.”
