Gianni Di Gregorio’s comedy stars Valeria de Franciscis as a spendthrift mother in a family of strong female characters.

The Salt Of Life premiered at the Berlinale this year and Zeitgeist’s Nancy Gerstman and the company’s longtime outside legal counsel Robert Marcus brokered the deal with Fandago Portobello’s Janine Gold and Sarah Nuttall.

Zeistgeist plans an early 2012 release. Gerstman said: “[W]e think The Salt Of Life brings Di Gregorio into the next realm, that of comic genius.”

Zeitgeist recently opened Bill Cunningham New York and Queen To Play. The 2011 slate includes The Tree and Women Art Revolution.
