The distributor will release Frederick Wiseman’s documentary theatrically in New York at the Film Forum on November 5 followed by nationwide roll-out.
National Gallery takes audiences on a behind-the-scenes tour of the famous London institution
“I first thought of making a film about a museum 30 years ago but other subjects intervened,” said Wiseman. “I chose the National Gallery because it has one of the greatest collections of paintings from the 13th to the end of the 19th Century.”
Gallery Films LLC produced with Idéale Audience with the participation of CANAL +, Planete +, Le Fresnoy, PBS and the support of the Centre National de la Cinématographie, LEF Moving Image Fund, the Independent Television Service (ITVS), the Pershing Square Foundation, and Utah Film Center.
