The Fido Awards recognised the most captivating canines on screen this year.
It’s the awards ceremony with the most certified bitches on the red carpet! The Fido Awards, the event organised by Palm Dog mastermind Toby Rose, gave out its annual prizes for best canines in film on Sunday at London’s Cinema Museum.
Just a few hours before the BIFAs, The Fidos honoured local and international pooches for their on-screen work in 2012.
The household name that is Uggie continued his time in the spotlight by nabbing the Best In World prize for his star turn in The Artist. He also won for Historical Hound. Uggie biographer Wendy Holden accepted the awards on the Jack Russell’s behalf.
Smurf [pictured], the Parson’s Terrier who steals the show in Sightseers, won the Comedy Canine Moment. Director Ben Wheatley [below] was on hand to present the award. Smurf is accustomed to such honours as he also scampered away with the Palm Dog in Cannes this year.
Other winners were Red Dog from Red Dog as Romcom Rover, Bonnie the Shih tzu from Seven Psychopaths as Blockbuster Bowser, and Sparky from Frankenweenie as Mutt Moment.
Congrats to all these top dogs…but now I’m left wondering is what poor career decisions I’ve made in the past that I wasn’t selected to be Uggie’s biographer!
