Dogwoof’s earlier Sundance pickups for UK were Big Boys Gone Bananas!* and Putin’s Kiss
UK distributor Dogwoof has picked up its third title from Sundance 2012, the documentary Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present.
Matthew Akers and Jeff Dupre’s film is about the controversial artist as she prepares for a major retrospective of her work at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The deal was negotated by Oli Harbottle, Head of Distribution at Dogwoof, and David Koh of Submarine, also an Executive Producer on the film.
David Koh said: “We are really so pleased to work with Dogwoof on this film. They are the perfect home and distributor for the film and filmmakers.”
Harbottle added: “I’m delighted to have picked up this incredible documentary - the film is a wonderful and touching depiction of a very special individual, and I am confident that it will play well to UK audiences. There are some very exciting ideas already in the pipeline for the film’s release later this year.”
Earlier in the festival, Dogwoof announced that it had acquired Fredrik Gertten’s Big Boys Gone Bananas!* and Lise Birk Pedesen’s Putin’s Kiss.
