Austria-based Autlook Filmsales has sold UK rights to Dogwoof for Peter Mettler’s documentary Petropolis: Aerial Perspectives On The Alberta Tar Sand.
Autlook CEO Peter Jager brokered the deal with Dogwoof CEO Andy Whitaker and Greenpeace Canada’s Spencer Tripp, who served as executive producer.
Dogwoof plans a year-end, multi-city release for the film, which screens in Toronto in Real To Reel and examines the debate between environmentalists and proponents in favour of exploiting the oil-rich region.
“At 43 minutes, Petropolis is not an obvious choice for a theatrical/DVD release, but this illustrates how an inventive distributor like Dogwoof can emerge with creative distribution ideas using the new technologies available,” Jager said.
Autlook is currently in talks with buyers from multiple territories.
