E1 Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Frederico Fellini’s 1960’s classic La Dolce Vita from International Media Films.
The deal includes DVD, television and digital rights. Previously, E1 handled only North American home video rights for the film.
E1 is now planning a 50th anniversary special edition DVD and blu ray release of the film, which won the Palme D’Or at Cannes, later this wear.
The agreement also includes four other Italian titles - Vittorio De Sica’s 1946 film Shoe –Shine, along with three Luchino Visconti films - Bellissima (1951), La Terra Trema (1948), and Ossessione (1943).
E1 Entertainment Distribution U.S. president Michael Rosenberg said: “We are pleased to expand our relationship with Alfredo Leone [CEO of International Media Films] to distribute these important films, many of which have not been available in the U.S.”
