Eagle Pictures has picked up Italian distribution rights to Italian Venice Days title Don't Think About It (Non Pensarci), directed by Gianni Zanasi.
The Rome-based distributor picked up rights from France's Pyramide
International, which also made sales at Venice including Hopscotch for
Australia, Audiovisual for Greece, and Xenix for Switzerland.
While Eagle has not yet confirmed the exact release date or number of copies, the film will hit Italian theatres in 2008.
The $2.2m (Euros 1.6m) film is a production of ITC Movie and Pupkin Productions with the collaboration of La7, a private Italian broadcaster. It marks the first foray into film-making for the channel.
Don't Think About It stars capable and popular actor Valerio
Mastandrea as a forty-year-old punk rock musician in a career slump.
The film's comedic spin comes from his return to his provincial
hometown to think about his life.
The film was well received at Venice and also gives a glimpse into a not often seen side of Italian life.
Zanasi has previously directed In The Thick Of It (selected for
Director's Fortnight in 1995) and Until Tomorrow (A Domani) - in
Venice's main competition in 1999.
In 2004 Zanasi co directed La Vita e' breve ma la giornata e'
lunghissima (Life Is Short But The Days Are Long) with Michele
Pellegrini who is credited as co-script writer with Zanasi for Don't
Think About It.
