Pair worked together at Kudos; Shoebox’s first production is Steve Knight’s Hummingbird.
Ed Clarke has reteamed with former boss Paul Webster by joining Shoebox Films.
Webster, director Joe Wright and producer Guy Heeley launched Shoebox last year.
Clarke was previously head of development at Kudos Pictures, working for three years under Webster as Head of FIlm; they worked on projects including Brighton Rock and Salmon Fishing In The Yemen. Prior to that he worked at Capitol Films and Arista Development.
Clarke will now produce alongside Webster and Heeley, bringing a number of his own projects into Shoebox. He will also help to expand the development slate with projects for Wright as well as other directors.
Shoebox’s productions include Steve Knight’s directorial debut Hummingbird starring Jason Statham.
Wright said “Ed comes with a keen sense of the contemporary cinematic landscape as well as a deep love of its history and a clear view to its future. We are very lucky to have him”.
Webster said “Ed has tip top taste and we welcome him into the company and look forward to many exciting adventures in movies together…”
Heeley said “Ed is a great match for Shoebox as we continue to work with some of the finest home grown and international talent”.
Clarke added “It’s a real pleasure to be working with Shoebox Films. We share a taste, an outlook, and a way of working, and it feels like a great fit. Hot off the heels of Anna Karenina and Hummingbird, Joe and the company are in an exciting place right now, and I look forward to helping Shoebox move to the next stage.”
