Ginnie Atkinson has stepped down as managing director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) after 15 years.
Kirsteen Jackson has been appointed chief operation officer on an interim basis until the board decides whether to replace Atkinson.
Hannah McGill, the festival’s artistic director, told ScreenDaily that the festival is “looking at how to restructure things and will be making some announcements soon”.
Atkinson has also left her post as chief executive of Edinburgh’s art house cinema, the Filmhouse, which she held for five years.
She said: “I’ve had a fantastic experience at the EIFF over fifteen years. Bringing the Filmhouse and the EIFF into closer partnership over the last few years has been an exciting and creative job and this is a perfect juncture at which to pass the baton on and to widen my own horizons.:
McGill added: “Ginnie has helped to build the reputation of the Edinburgh International Film Festival over many years and she will be missed. We go forward developing the legacy and anticipate a ground-breaking festival in June 2010.”
The 2010 edition of EIFF will run from June 16-27.
