Directors Mike Leigh and John Madden are among the film industry professionals who will lead masterclasses for the inaugural screenwriters’ initiative The Story Works.
The Story Works is run by story editor Kate Leys in association with the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) and Oscar-nominated producers Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey. The year-long programme gives ten British screenwriters the chance to work with an experienced mentor.
Other industry professionals including screenwriters Jane Campion and Ronald Harwood as well as editor Pietro Scalia and composer David Julyan will also lead the masterclasses which will run from June 14-18. They will overlap with the 64th EIFF giving the participants the chance to attend industry events and screenings.
The Story Works is being funded by Skillset and Scottish Screen and sponsors include Soho House, Olswang, Aon and Sony.
