Germany leads the pack with 8 films, whilst the UK has 4 features on the list including Mike Leigh’s Another Year and Sam Taylor Wood’s Nowhere Boy.
The European Film Academy has revealed the 46 films selected for this year’s European Film Awards.
EFA members will now vote for their selections and the nominations will be announced on November 6 at the Seville European Film Festival. The 23rd European Film Awards will be presented in Tallinn, Estonia on 4 December.
The list is made up by the 20 countries with the most EFA members, which have voted one national film directly onto the list, while further films were added by EFA board members and experts Gunnar Bergdahl (Sweden), Pierre-Henri Deleau, Stefan Kitanov (Bulgaria), Derek Malcom (UK) and Nikolaj Nikitin (Germany).
Out of the 32 countries represented, Germany is leading the pack with 8 productions/co productions including Fatih Akin’s Soul Kitchen and Feo Aladag’s When We Leave. France has 7 nominations, whilst Italy has 5 and the UK and Netherlands are on 4. UK films in the list include Mike Leigh’s Another Year and Sam Taylor Wood’s Nowhere Boy.
