The three-day event during TIFF 2010 will include pitching sessions, roundtable meetings and case studies.
Hamburg-based European Film Promotion (EFP) is joining forces with the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to launch a new platform, Producers Lab Toronto, in order to foster more co-productions between Europe and Canada.
The three-day event – to be held from September 10-12 during the film festival - will include pitching sessions, roundtable meetings and case studies.
Twelve European producers from 12 different European countries who have participated in one of the editions of EFP’s Producers On The Move initiative in Cannes from the last three years will be selected to attend the Producers Lab Toronto, while their 12 Canadian counterparts will be chosen by OMDC and TIFF.
Apart from having a track record in successful project development and production, the participants will have to be experienced in international co-production and have concrete projects that could benefit both financially and creatively from partners from Europe or Canada.
OMDC already has experience of bringing its domestic Canadian producers together with potential international partners since it has already been staging the International Financing Forum during the Toronto film festival since 2006. This feature film co-financing event is aimed at selected Canadian and international producers developing English-language projects.
