Lisa Opie, the former managing director of content at UK broadcaster Five, has taken over as chair of regional screen agency EM Media.
Opie replaces Alison Ford, former head of journalism at BBC Nations and Regions, who took up the role in June 2006.
Her appointment comes as the agency also announced several new non-executive board members from across the film and digital media industries, includign Elizabeth Kalsen from Number 9 Films, Marc Boothe, producer and founder/managing director of B3 Media; David Shear, head of theatrical distribution at Revolver Entertainment; Jeremy Gawarde, senior partner with Lee & Thompson; and Dr. Lisa Mooney-Smith, associate dean of arts for research and Enterprise at the University of Northampton.
They will join existing board members Stephen Frears, Barbara Benedek, Mike Blair, Michael Eaton, Katie Conley and Chris Hughes.
EM Media chief executive Debbie Williams said: “Lisa brings to the board a clear understanding of the multiplatform operating environment, incredible energy and exceptional leadership skills amongst many other qualities and attributes.
She added that the new non-executive directors will play a key role in EM Media’s decision-making processes, which have been key to developing its successful investment portfolio and shaping its strategy.
