Faisal Toor, ex-CAA and Arclight, and Galen Christy, ex-CAA, have launched a new LA-based sales company, Empress Road Pictures.
AFM is the company’s first market.
The first film on their slate is Charles-Oliver Michaud’s Snow & Ashes, about two war correspondents in Eastern Europe. Rhys Coiro (30 Days of Night, Entourage) stars alongside David-Alexandre Coiteux and Lina Roessler. The story follows a journalist who is injured in a warzone in Eastern Europe. When he wakes up from a coma in Quebec, he discovers his photographer colleague is missing.
The film won the Grand Jury Award at Slamdance 2010. David Alexandre Coiteux produced.
Empress Road is now adding other projects to its slate, including one horror project.
“Our company is looking for genre films and dramas with a cinematic feel. At the same time, we are also pursuing new avenues for film distribution since technology for content delivery is always changing,” Toor said.
