Endgame Entertainment - the financing and production outfit formed by entrepreneur and Broadway producer James D Stern - has committed to co-finance two films through its entertainment fund The Endgame Fund.
Endgame will co-finance Compleat Female Stage Beauty with Artisan Pictures and Michael Kuhn's Qwerty Films. Artisan has domestic rights to the film which was developed by Tribeca Productions partners Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro and stars Billy Crudup and Claire Danes.
The fund will also co-finance Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle, the comedy being sold by Senator International and distributed domestically by New Line Cinema. Directed by Danny Leiner (Dude Where's My Car'), the film is about two overachieving kids from immigrant families who break away from their parents' expectations for one eventful night.
Compleat Female Stage Beauty, which has been adapted for the screen by Jeffrey Hatcher from his own play, stars Crudup as Edward Kynaston, the actor renowned for playing female roles on the English stage who tries to reinvent himself as a man in 1661 when women started to play female roles.
The Endgame Fund is an entertainment opportunity fund formed to take advantage of the severe capital shortage in the film and entertainment markets. The fund will provide bridge financings, P&A funds, acquisition and co-production financing, pay-or-play offers, gap and equity funding, and occasionally development or production financing.
