This year's edition sees many changes as Expo raises its profile in the international calendar. Filmart, HAF and Hkiff will start on the same day and work more closely to provide a platform to support the production and distribution of Asian and other international films.

In addition, the opening night of Expo will feature the first pan-Asian film awards designed to celebrate excellence across the wide spectrum of Asian cinema.

In the following pages we take an in-depth look at recent developments in the Hong Kong and mainland China film industries and also cast a spotlight on each of Expo's major film-related events. Although only three years old, Hong Kong's self-styled 'entertainment extravaganza' promises to be quite a show.
