Hot on the heels of their successful collaboration on Animal Kingdom, eOne Films International has acquired global sales rights to Porchlight Films’ psychological thriller The Hunter.
Willem Dafoe, Frances O’Connor and Sam Neill star in the story of a mercenary sent from Europe to the Tasmanian wilderness by an anonymous biotech company to hunt the last Tasmanian tiger.
Daniel Nettheim makes his feature directorial debut based on Alice Addison’s adapted screenplay of Julia Leigh’s novel. Morgana Davies, Jacek Koman, Dan Wyllie, Sullivan Stapleton, John Brumpton and newcomer Finn Woodlock round out the key cast.
Porchlight’s Vincent Sheehan is producing and filming is underway on location in Tasmania in time for a 2011 release.
eOne Films International’s Charlotte Mickie brokered the deal with Sheehan.
